WHAT IS THE AGE RANGE FOR THE TEAM?
The organization focuses on ages 4-12 years old. The team is broken 4 levels: 6U (4-6 years old), 8U (7-8 years old), 10U (9-10 years old), and 12U (11-12 years old). Ages are based on their age by July 31 for the year.
HOW MANY PLAYERS ARE ON THE TEAM ROSTER?
There are 4 levels and on each level, there are at least 20 kids on the team.
WHAT KIND OF TRAINING DO THE COACHES HAVE?
All coaches are trained in football and are child CPR-certified. All coaches have numerous years of personal experiences ranging from little league, high school, collegiate, and professional. These experiences are valuable for training up the child to reach their potential.
WHEN IS DOES THE FOOTBALL SEASON START?
Our football season begins in August and ends around the third week in November. We start practice in April to focus on conditioning and fundamentals.
DO ALL CHILDREN PLAY TACKLE FOOTBALL?
Tackle football is for ages 7 to 12. The younger children (ages 4-6) play flag football.
WHERE IS PRACTICE? WHERE ARE THE HOME GAMES?
Practices are in Carrollton. Practices are closed practices, only team members will get the exact location. Hawks' home games are at Greenhill School (4100 Spring Valley Rd, Addison, TX 75001).
WHAT ATTIRE SHOULD BE WORN FOR PRACTICE/BROUGHT TO PRACTICE?
The athlete must wear football cleats or athletic training shoes (preferably cleats). He/she should wear athletic shorts and t-shirt or athletic shirt for practice. Also, they are expected to bring a thermos filled with ice water and a great attitude.
MY CHILD HAS ASTHMA, SHOULD HE/SHE BRING AN INHALER TO PRACTICE?
Yes, your child should bring an inhaler to all practices and all games. Please write their name on it in case it gets misplaced or lost.
HOW DO I KNOW IF A PRACTICE IS CANCELED DUE TO THE WEATHER?
Often the timing of weather is unpredictable. In the event of a cancellation, you will receive a message via GroupMe and Facebook as soon a decision is made. Keep in mind that due to the unpredictability of the weather, a practice may be canceled even a half-hour before it is set to begin.
HOW MUCH DO THE GAMES COST?
Each game will cost between $3-10 depending on the home team. For Hawks home games, entry fee will be $5.
HOW CAN I HELP OR SUPPORT THE TEAM?
As always, we appreciate any support that our parents give to the Hawks. As a coaching staff, we cannot emphasize the crucial role parents can play in the success of our athletics program. In a given year, we may have as many as 80 players on our team, which obviously presents some logistical work. Throughout a season, we may need parents to assist at games and concessions, getting an athlete to/from a practice or a games. If you have capacity to help, contact Coach Joi.
